What is the Virtual Whiteboard?
Chalk boards have been popular among meeting leaders and educators for a long time – since 1801, to be specific. That is before sliced bread!
The concept of a board that can be wiped clean and used seemingly infinitely grew into the dry erase board and eventually what we call whiteboards today. Until 2022, the most advanced version was born in the 1990’s; The interactive Whiteboard concept used complicated technology within the frame itself to track what was happening on the board. The design was ingenious despite being flawed – the technology couldn’t support multiple users at times, was limited in size, easily damaged and above all: costly.
With many issues, only select groups opted for this type of board. Today the issues count increase with compatibility and hybrid workforces on the rise.
What is the new Solution?
Virtual Whiteboards are the new upgrade.
Industry leaders stepped away from the costly, outdated design and went back to their own whiteboards to design a better solution. What they came up with is a camera with built-in AI. These cameras track the designated whiteboard to follow all writing and drawings to digitize and display for in-person or remote attendees. This means you expand upon your current whiteboard, not replace it.
The Camera
Let’s discuss the camera itself first. They can vary however all share sleek designs meant to blend in with their environment with clean wall-mount installment.
Being out of sight for itself and in-person attendees, you activate it with a single button on the wall located next to your whiteboard. Experienced installers will place the ‘One-touch Share’ button in the most convenient location for it’s use within your own unique environment.
The Artificial Intelligence
The AI built inside of these cameras are what make them so high-tech and functional today. They are programmed with a ‘blank’ set of your designated whiteboard to then track any variances. This means as you write or draw it will track the change, the color and enhance the recorded content. You can have this be presented as its own screen within a webinar or virtual meeting environment, or on a larger display screen for in-person attendees.
What if you use sticky-notes or other added items on your whiteboard? The tracking technology will still include these items, adding them to the enhanced, presented image.
The artificial intelligences work doesn’t end there – for it only tracks and records changes to the board itself. This means that as someone writes, the AI will ‘erase’ the user and still show what they may be cover as they write. All of this, done live as you speak, work, teach, and demonstrate.
Integrations
The last, crucial part to a virtual whiteboard, is how do you meet? This can get more technical as there are multiple options for every situation. This includes if you use Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or another video conferencing tool, or want to only display in your space on a larger screen for viewers and attendees. Effortless solutions are here to maximize your teams collaboration capabilities.
